Hi Frank -
After looking at the image for a while I felt the BG slop needed a touch of help to bring out the fall colors. I added a curves layer and selected one of the more prominent trees as a point on the curve. I increased the brightness a bit more than was natural and added a point about 25% up the curve from the black point and pulled down until the saturation and color became something that was attractive. Yes, it is now over saturated but add black to the mask to take away the changes. I made a selection of the sky and inversed the selection to help control my brush. A soft white brush with about 25% opacity I painted the hill slope behind the church until I brought back a tone that was natural looking. I painted in about 70% of the change. I addressed the hill slope with the vineyard by painting in about 30-50% of the curves adjustment.
I think this adds a bit of definition and separates the hill slope from the church and village. I hope you like it.
