I had always wanted to see places in winter wondering how people lived during this time of the year and how the landscaped changed compared to summer. Any surprises? I went there like an Eskimo prepared with warm jackets, gloves and shawl. Boy it was like a heat wave compared to Switzerland but cold enough to certainly not swim in the Irish Sea like some funny nut cases we came over. |

These photos are all connected to my wonderful house sitting experience at Hawk Moon Ridge/Colorado last year. It stands behind the Colorado National Monument, approx. a 30 minute drive away from the Utah border meaning high desert (over 2000 meters altitude). In fact, this was the third time in a row diving into this adventure. It is a fairly long story how this all began but when Marisa and Collin - that I knew just briefly at that time - asked if we would house sit their paradise while they were flying in Alaska, I wrote spontaneously "YES". A holiday dream to celebrate my husband's retirement, the main destination was New Zealand for 5 weeks. As it is such a long way, we stopped at Singapore on the way there, but instead of returning the same way, we decided to continue around the world, stopping at Fiji and finally California in the US. |
