About this photograph:
Just a lazy day floating down the Deschutes in a drift boat; a little fishing, no luck, a few photos. It's a time honorede pastime; in the summer we have more boats floating past our house than pass on the dead-end dirt road where we live part-time.

This is a horizontal stitch of three photos since I hoped to capture a heron. Again, no luck, although I saw several.

Patricia, hope all is fine with you and Larry.
And look here...what a great place, serene and peaceful....as it looks and that big fat cloud on top makes it even more impressive...beautiful.
Take care, Henk

Hi Pat,
A beatiful compositon in well managed light and crisp sharpness and clarity. Beautiful work. Gerald

Hello Patricia,
The longer I view this photo, the more I like it. The sense if being right there and the honest reproduction of the reality without exaggerating saturation pleases me a lot. The clouds are impressive and the exposure of them is excellent. The rendition of the water ripples and the beautiful reflections are fine details as well. I would not have guessed this is a stitch. Well done! Last but not least the photo transmits a lovely serene atmosphere.

Hi Pat,
What a peaceful river image you present here with the lovely trees and sky reflecting in the slightly swirling river.
The kind of beautiful summer's day that want one to get in a small (human powered) boat and explore. I can image the lovely summer wild life sounds that come with such a day.
Warm Regards, Tom

Hello Pat, very nice job on the stitch, and I like how the water turned out. Great contrast seen in the shot providing very good detail and colour throughout. I would like to know how you processed the shot (including the stitch) so I might learn from it.

Thanks, John

Wishing you health, love and joy (HLJ); since that's all that matters, Pat
plimrn wrote in 2010/07/31 22:40:07: I just opened photomerge in CS4 and added the three photos. Then I cropped the places where my hand-help shots didn't quite overlap, flattened the image, used smart sharpen at the default setting, added a contrast layer at the linear contrast setting. Then I flattened again and re-sharpened again. That's it. I do love photomerge, it was well worth the upgrade from CS2. All of my shots from that Yosemite morning were compiled with photomerge. Hello Pat,

Excellent pastorale image with the mirror waters reflecting the trees, sky and clouds.

I often camp in the Sunriver area as it is a good 'base-camp' for exploring, and have paddled on the Deschutes and rafted the whitewater part.

thanks for sharing,
Ray

Thanks for your comments. Our place is a bit south of Sunriver, we're headed to San Diego in a couple of days and don't know when we'll be able to return. I find the area every bit as peaceful and quiet as it looks and I'll miss that quiet.

Hi Pat,

This sure is different from your last "Floating" picture! I love the clouds here and the reflection, the whole shot "oozes" serenity and calm. Without a heron it just seems more detached from the rest of the world.
And Oregon keeps climbing up on that bucket list of mine... ;o)

Best,
Claudia

You're right, it is a big switch, I hadn't realized I was repeating myself, so much has happened since I last posted. I've got to get more creative with my names.
Thank you for your comments. One of the things I find most attractive about the area around Bend is that is relatively uncrowded. The day we floated the river we saw only one other boat and essentially no people ashore although we passed many houses, they are vacation homes and not occupied in late May.

No heron but nevertheless a superb landscape enriched by a fine reflection and a really interesting sky. The environment of this river is pretty enough but that huge cloud really makes a difference!
I like the proportions in this composition and the sense of perspective created by the river. A picture to be remebered.

Hi Patricia,
this is a very beautiful place indeed. Lovely colors (even without sun). A good place for a walk and photos.

Hi Pat
The clouds seem to pop right out you. Great way to spend an afternoon. So if you float down does that mean rowing back?

Hi Pat,
amazing 3D effect you've got here! The sky is amazing and the reflections on the water made the shot! Very well presented indeed with such beautiful and natural colors and perfect light management. I like it a lot!!

I don't know if this is the same bit of river, but it is so reminiscent of the time we spent with you at your house by the river. Your position in a boat, not only gives you a low POV, but also an unusual view down the river. The mood is tranquil and the reflections are beautiful. I also love the real clouds in the sky which appear 3D. Excellent stitch too; no visible joins.

Hi Patricia!

Wonderful lazy day you must have had. Great reflection - simple and wonderful scene. Those clouds are a great bonus, but the entire shot is really nice. No heron here, but maybe next time!

Have a great evening and a wonderful weekend!
