Water. Not too much water but in conjunction with the flower it could be of some use.
Saponaria officinalis - Soapwort has few medicinal properties but the "soap" is probably the best known.
The substance extracted from the root, usually by brute force, in combination with WATER allows you to wash yourself. Is that not important?
On top of that, it looks nice and it's root system binds the soil on steep slopes to prevent washouts, that is what we use it for. And, of course, it would not do without WATER.

Nice, your line of thought goes along with what I also described in my note. The necessity of water to support life, although the additional thought of requiring interconnected roots to keep the soil to be washed away by water is a nice one.
The element of water is a subtle one and that makes it so nice here. The shallow DOF makes it quite appealing.
My second impression of this image is that the foreground seems to be a little bit on the pale side. I suspected that there are non-populated pixels in the highlights. So I looked into this with the Level tool and that confirmed it. Have a look into the WS and you will understand what I mean. :-)

Very helpful and understandable comment. I really know what you mean! Thank you again.

Great shot of the flowers after the rain. The drops of water add a lot to the image. The DOF works well to isolate the foreground flowers from the background and makes them really stand out.
A different and creative interpretation of the theme.

Hi Christopher,
a very pretty shot and a really well thought-out note! Great contribution to the theme illustrating (both with your photo of these flowers as well as with your explanation) another important aspect of water!
Thanks and take good care,
Linda

Hi Christopher,
I particularly like that magnifying drop at the top of the lower third. Your note links your composition nicely to the theme; from the thumbnail, I had wondered about the link to water.
Wishing you health, love and joy, Pat

Hi Chris!
Here you show us water in a wonderful and somehow delicate shape - something we often ignore because it's not spectacular. But actually it is! Our German word for this plant - Seifenkraut - also contains the word soap.
A very good combination of photo and comment! Peter's (tolerable ;-) PP really improved the photo.
Greetings from at the time summerly Germany - with some raindrops!

you know, Peter´s WS is just great but this image has a great beauty.
and there is this feeling of suspension of time - look to the drops in the low
left corner - they´re just about to fall. About to...
great interesting note! TFS

Hi Christopher,
The image is amplified by that solid black background .. it combines well with the depth of field .. I love the droplets ready to fall at the bottom of the image.
wonderfully composed. take care, John
