Treking in libyan desert, around the fire at end of the day when the temperature cooled down, a bit tired by a day of walk.
Photo with tripod with available light.
The lighted curves are sparks from the fire, transformed by the shutter speed of 1/4s

Salut Yves.
Cordialement.
Pierre.

Salut, Yves -
Gorgeous lighting on that face and much of the body, and well contrasted with the blue-hour sky. I'm not so sure about those light streaks, though; if they were sparks from the fire, they aren't representing well.
Best,
Dan

This is a wonderful portrait of the guy tending the fire. He is sitting perfectly still, lost in his thoughts as he tends the fire, and you have captured his expression very well in the firelight. Amazing trails from the flying sparks!

Hello Yves,
I like this shot! It is not that easy to make a decent shot of people around fires. The high contrasts are tricky. You however succeeded well both in exposure and focus here. The flying sparks captured with the longer exposure time are a nice detail and the still blue adds to the wonderful atmosphere. I cannot see any noise either. Well done!
Best regards,
Lasse

Yves,
Absolutely great shot. The scene and the facial expression tells a nice story. The details of the sparks is really a very nice add to the scene and works perfectly for me. I even think that the sparks are what elevates this image from a mediocre to a great shot. Your light management couldn't be better as all parts are well lit - the very bright as well as the dark portions of the image.
Where do people get wood in the desert to make such sparkling fires?

Hello Yves! He looks like a story teller or at least this is my idea when people sit around the fire that you tell each other stories or a tale, or maybe a good night story ;))) But maybe it was a quiet evening, everybody enjoying the silence, also being tired of a busy day walking in the heat. The atmosphere is wonderful, I can almost hear the fire and feel the heat that streams from the burning wood. Fantastic shot, absolutely great. Best wishes, Barbara.
