How I participate at PF:
My participation here requires some adaptation to what I did at a previous photographic site. Being here is not just posting and writing critiques, but foremost listening to suggestions & critiques from members, reading between the lines and moderating. It is a constant vigilance to make this site happen. Almost daily researching to make this a better place and be up to what other sites offer. Dialoguing with our webmaster to get new features implemented .... and so on!

But, when I get to have a moment to post one of my shots it will be something of my extensive travels throughout the American Southwest, West & Northwest.
When I get a moment to write a critique I will always try to see the positive aspects of a post as well as come up with some additional views and suggestions of how the image could be done with a different approach. My critiques will always be very honest. I prefer to say what I think and not to place some meaningless words just to please someones ego. So, if I hurt your feelings - Sorry, that was not my intention. Don´t take it to serious, because I don´t do it either :-)


How and what I photograph:
Nature and landscape photography of the American West and Southwest. I usually do long hikes, backpacking, camping in search for unique compositions and evocative light moments. Although, I obviously take my equipment with me to my more conventional trips to Europe, Central and South America, Canada, Africa, Nepal ...

My interest in photography goes far back but it turned into almost a second identity through my time at TrekEarth.com. It opened my eyes for the advantages of digital photography with its post-processing capabilities and at the end I opened my own little photography business with its site at peterboehringer.com.

Additionally I felt the urge to create this site with my friends Isabelle and zeca.

LOTS of memory cards. I only shoot RAW and increasingly more and more bracketing!

Gitzo tripod, Arca Swiss ball head, Wimberley WH-200

Circular polarizing filters, Lee ND grad filters

All the above in a Tamrac Expedition 8 backpack stowed in a Jeep Wrangler 4x4

Hiking boots, hiking poles, etc ...

.... and finally Photoshop CS5, Lightroom 4 and other software as well as an Epson 3800 printer @ home.
