These are the tyre tracks of my neighbour's car, when he left for work yesterday morning. I took the photo from my window upstairs and therefore the perspective is a bit different.
This photo also demonstrates the unsteady weather which we have had recently. In several mornings the yard has been covered by sleet and then after a couple of hours nothing of that white stuff is left. Spring is belated for several weeks here. March was already promising, but then winter returned in the middle of April, not with snow, but with all day temperatures below freezing point. Day temperatures have gone up only slightly since then. April average temperature so far is +2.2 °C, which is the lowest April average in my 11 years weather statistics. The forecast tells that May will start warmer though. :-))
We also woke up this morning to a dusting of white like this, but it was hail and what actually woke me up, was the arctic wind blowing the hail against the bedroom window.
The patterns made by a car which has reversed and then gone forward is always fascinating like you have here. Looking down from above makes the pattern more clear as well as giving you an opportunity to fit the theme.
What a difference to my last photo here on PF.! I like the graphism of the wheel tracks in the snow - and the appropriate rendering of the atmosphere of a cold morning.
Yes, this spring and especially this April is a real drama. Here plants could "enjoy" -3°C last night ... In southern Germany they got up to 30cm of snow last night!
Greetings from cold Westphalia!
The high PoV describes well the scene:one car stopped and then reversed. We can see that the trail of the front wheels is different from the one of the back wheels. No one stepped in the snow. This could be a good exercice for the future policemen!
A well seen picture! An attractive pattern from the tyres and you were lucky that noone had time to ruin the picture with footprints. I like the composition and especially the green foreground framing.
I was in the south of france this week. But even there it was cold. At the factory they got some melted snow too!.
really unstable. But one thing is sure : if no rain coming, we will have drinking water shortage this summer, even in high jura.
Here the ski lifts have re-opened :-) I had to rub my eyes this morning when I saw the car park full with cars. Normally at this time of the year, all the lifts are closed and nobody is here much before the seaons starts again towards the summer. They published it on FB etc. so everybody that felt like skiing came. Not good for the fruit trees but definitely a unique moment to see so much snow while the sun is already so high and it makes it all look unreal. As Clodo mentions, it has something faintly eerie and you wonder who was here "before I woke up".

Some of the migrating birds have made a wise solution to fly back towards south. What a strange spring!
Anyway, enjoy your first of May day, be the weather whatever!
I like this image a lot, with its almost abstract patterns in the snow while the foreground greenery and rocky outcrop make a comforting frame of reality. It also works well for the TOM for me. Bear Lane weather is just the same...I have had all kinds of things for spring planting, and every night it freezes. Still the daffodils come back every day and the skiing is great. Regards, Patricia
To bad winter can't seem to get out of the way so spring and now almost summer can get on with it. The tracks in the snow are rather interesting trying to figure out which tires are which. It seems like the are a few extra tires on the car. An abstract work of art so it seems.
ellelloo wrote in 2017/05/16 06:42:12: Well, it is now 3 weeks from the day of the photo and spring has finally advanced. Last night frost was yesterday morning and the day temperatures will go up all the time. Also nature has waken up. Amazingly we can already see small green leaves here and there. This positive situation is only here in southern Finland. In thre north they still have 50-75 cm snow. Thanks for your visit!
