Hey hey, we had a lovely afternoon and a great dinner last night with Elaine, Keith, Benno and myself with large mugs of organic Zurich beer and veggie stuff in the oldest Vegetarian Restaurant in Europe (Vegi Hiltl). Oh boy, these folks have something to tell the world. Elaine’s images tell a lot about their amazing travels. No images from "doing Zurich in the snow-rain", it was simply too cold and wet to bother but we rather had an afternoon "hot chocolate".
Yes enough of the "wind" soon but I thought I had to finalize my little „series“ which began simply for fun via JMarc. Something I like to do, purely being a little silly. Yes Mistral, another type of wind that can blow on this planet and spoil your hairdo :-)
This is image was taken the other day going flying, this is a small lake just near the grass strip. It was a bit windy as you can see, the upper part is “land” to connect with the reality. I thought it would be neat to leave it there.
So fun you're talking about mistral : yesterday I was close to Marseille . And today I drove back from there to the Jura, along the Rhone valley with the mistral in front of me. It was sunny , very windy and clod !. But when i get back to the factory, it was snowing !!!!. My personal car that stayed park there for the week while I was travelling south was 4 cm snow covered !. All was white again. OK it will now stay white very long but .... I prefer at the time sea or lake mood and warm ....

JMarcBabaCam wrote in 2017/04/29 12:13:06: They have re-opened the ski lifts :-) With social media this is all possible and everyobody came. The parking lot is packed with skiers. It was amazing last night driving up here. There was a thick hood of snow and at the same time with day light saving it felt kind of not right anymore to have half a meter of new snow, the light doesn't fit anymore. I do feel sorry for all the trees and especially the fruit trees, it was ways below zero, the leaves look brown and limp, the blossoms are gone anyway. Bahhh, this is going to be expensive this year to buy fruit and veggies, at least when you want to buy local.
We seem to have constant wind here on the coast of an island, but as far as I know none of them have names! 🤔
I love this as an abstract image. The white bits (foam??) make a lovely pattern and I really like the colour.
BabaCam wrote in 2017/04/29 15:09:13: Not foam, it is just tiny waves from the wind moving over but maybe along the shoreline, not sure, but sometimes you see foam, not soap ... LOL ...
Your image and its title really jumped out at me. Patterns of wind on the water are very important to sailors as well and the land IS an important anchor.. For me this one trumps this is home hands down!! but them I'm more of a water baby that a desert fancier. You also paint a charming verbal image of a great way to brighten an unpleasant day: viewing travel photos of warmer climes with friends! I'm jealous of your much easier connections with others. HLJ, Patricia
And wasn't it a delicious meal and as we say in Dutch ' heel gezellig'.
We have been in Corsica during the mistral, not funny in a tent, sounded like a train was constantly rushing past, there is no let up in the wind for a minute.
Lovely patterns and glistening diamonds caught in this abstract image of your typical style.
I'll try to get our photos processed as soon and time allows me to share. (And try to get Keith sharing 😉)
very interesting compo with a surprising abstract mood created by the windows in the water. mistral used to be the name of a popular perfum and a deodorant when I was a little boy.
here we have lots of winds but we are very young to give them names as is usual in europe.
