An image from my archives. Last entry into this month's ToM.
This is a butterfly newly emerged from its chrysalis. It's wings are still crumpled and damp and it will be some moments before it will be able to fly. They pin all the chrysalises they find to the board so visitors can watch the births.
Taken in the butterfly house at the Monteverde Cloud Forest.
Probably one of the most amazing processes that something so beautiful comes to our world that once was a catapillar. No wonder we say "I have butterflies in my stomach" meaning that you are in love. Not sure if you have the same saying but seeing the lovely birds, the saying probably fits, kind of "I want to fly, I am so happy". Funny that they pin them to this board so everybody can see and participate when it happens. Never heard of such an event :-) A very special photo that perfectly fits TOM.
nice image showing the new phase of the butterfly life. a special moment of reborn.
some weeks ago we had lots of rain and the caterpillars that were eating the leaves of my lemon tree ended their phase and choose a wall at side of the house to stay, when they waked up my cats killed many of them.

This fellow looks like he will be a very big fellow and he's has a buddy next door, still waiting to emerge. This one now goes to the top of my list! Still your creative mind has come up with many unique choices for the TOM, you put us all to shame. HLJ, P
What a fantastic shot with the different stages of the metamorphosis. At first I was somewhat shocked to see them all pinned up and thought that these are dead samples and after reading your note my temper got smooth. :-)
What a special moment to catch the butterfly just moments before it spread its wings and off it goes ...
