I went off into the brush, to get a close up of this strand of Aspens with the right6 background, and I discovered this little shack made its way into my image. At first I thought I would photoshop it out, but it kind of grew on me as a interesting subject. On June Lake Loop Rd off into one of a series of ancient volcanic craters that run from Mono Lake to Mammoth Mountain.
The yellow glow of aspen is fascinating. I like your composition, which is kind of divided in layers. The very foreground with its grey and brown grasses is one of them.
The snow covered background mountains are impressive and beautifully lit. That wrecked shed or whatever it has been is not perhaps a real eye-catcher in the main, but the CI is a fine shot of it with excellent quality.
Greetings from rainy and grey south Finland, where autumn colours have already gone.
Far from cloning out the old ruin I would have ended up with about 20 shots from WA to close-up detail. Old ruins like this make excellent motifs in the landscape.
Nicely composed image with several separate layers which lead the eye through the image to the background mountains. The autumn colours are beautiful.
Very nice scene Steve. I think I might have given the ruin a more prominent position in the scene as it is nice subject as a FG element in an autumn landscape. Not to be picky, but it looks like there is a slight color cast with a bit too much cyan. Otherwise, a very nice image.
Just took a look in PS and there is a very strong blue component but since it is a JPG it is hard to nail down and fix. I did add a touch of magenta (+12) seemed to knock down the strong cyan but it was hard to tell.
This is such a typical image for this area. You would not have to write were you were as it is pretty clear Eastern Sierra Nevada and particular June Lake.
Yes, the shack makes a huge difference and I am glad that you did not entertain the idea to clone it out.
