Lots of depth here Rob. It makes for a great B&W. Another idea would be to mask the image and allow the colour of the cab at the lower right intersection point to come through. I'll bet it is a yellow cab.
Looks like a typical scene of NYC. I lived an hours drive from there in the early 70s. You got a great shot taking the high road. I found driving there fairly easy despite the traffic. Nice shot. Regards, Roger
Looks great in Black and White, especially the back light and glare on the roof of the cars. I wonder if it would work better if you make it black and white and leave all the taxi vehicles in colors, as it is a very iconic NYC landscape elements?
If not for the modern cars this could be one of those classical B&W shots of last century N.Y., same atmosphere, same strong blacks and same long perspective and backlight. A very effective composition and B&W.
"Once you get above the traffic you get a different perspective of street life"
This is true not only in the photographic sense... having been to N.Y. I know the sense of oppression these streets give... not for me! (:-) While from a high POV one can enjoy their sight.
