At the end of the day, things quiet down, A father is home from work, the slight breeze washed away the heat of the day, still hot and humid, but bearable. Even the river seems to flow a little slower as if to enjoy the glow of the sunset light as well.
Times mover slowly in Laos, but things are changing, it was not as quiet as it used to be. The increasing tourists, bars and restaurants popping up left and right in town, the night market is bustling like never before. One has to look for a place to calm one's mind and enjoy the solitude. Here the father and his child, enjoying the quiet moment at the Mekong.

It is a very nostalgic image for me and it makes me think of many parents and children spending time together.
This is more than "only" a photo, this is pure atmosphere and the photo motif shows empathy. The chosen point of view creates a gorgeous panorama and the rocks in foreground somehow provide a 3D effect in the scenery. I like the impression of calm (in spite of your note) and peace - and the changeover in colours in the sky very much. I would like to step into the picture now - but I think I would disturb the two persons sitting there ... ;-)
A photo to enjoy, to look at a bit longer ...
Greetings from very rainy Germany!
Beautiful! The only word I can think of this morning to describe your image, just beautiful.
The notes; it looks like and sounds like someone is missing their homeland an awful lot. But, then again this can describe just about anyone after a long hot day especially here in California. Lots of nostalgia here as I can feel the same way about my home town and how things have changed and in many cases not for the better. I think we all can agree as we age the simpler times were the best.
What a beautiful image Way. I love the colours which look so natural. I particularly like the silky translucence on the water surface. The composition is excellent with the rock in the foreground and the people looking out at the view.
The rocky bank in the foreground anchors this stunning sunset and its reflection in a unique way. The sharpness is also impressive. Not only nostalgic, I can imagine you and your son sitting here. HLJ, Patricia
I've not been around for a while, but hey, here we are again, looking at one of your ever meticulous photographs. As always, its all just so.
Laos, and the Mekong remain words of mythology for me - that you bring to life here.
I'm off to north Wales soon !! ;-)
What a beautiful and very atmospheric photo accompanied by a lovely sensitive note! The colours are stunning and the composition is excellent. A very fitting title too.
Thanks for sharing this gem!
Fantastic place and picture. I almost to hear the last sounds of the birds and feel the breeze. Lovely scene with the family enjoying the end of a day together. This place remember me some places in Brazil: vegetation, hot wether, rivers. The golden hour that you got is very nice and really brings good memories of my childhood too.
marvelous the intensity of the orange hues in the sky and the water. the rocks are very beautiful in the foreground and when we open the image we can see the father and son,. what is a small treasure of the compo. TFS.
