Haputale (හපුතලේ in Sinhala Language) is a town of Badulla District in the Uva Province, Sri Lanka. The elevation is 1431 m (4695 ft) above the sea level. The area has a rich bio-diversity dense with numerous varieties of flora and fauna. Haputale is surrounded by hills covered with cloud forests and tea plantations. The town has a cooler climate than its surroundings, due to its elevation. The Haputale pass allows views across the Southern plains of Sri Lanka.
All guidebooks recommend Ella or Nuwara Elya for a trip to the mountains in Sri Lanka.
I have been there about 30 years, and 3 years ago.
Last time in Ella there has been more tourists than locals, so I decided to visit Haputale, which is more a village than a town.
A big choice of accommodation there but not many tourists mid of december.
This is the sunset view from my balcony at " Sri Lak view inn" where I spent 4 nights.
I wish you all the best for 2017, thinking about my next long term destination.
Maybe Iran in november.................
Heute morgen -11,2°C ;-)
Lovely image with the rolling hills as far as we can see to the horizon. The foreground works extemly well with the nearly dark forested parts, great the soft hazy pink as the only color. It reminds me a little of the Zurich highlands in away but they're not as high but definitely going over a 1'000 meters. I do have Sri Lanka on my plan, a family friend lived there most of his life so one day it would be neat to see of what he talked about and secondly my working colleague is married to a man that grew up in a tea plantation so once they move back, I definitely visit. I wish you a wonderful new year. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
There is a wonderful recession of all the layers of mountains, with the dark silhouetted lay in the foreground. In style (not in content) it reminds me very much of your Bagan images.
Happy New Year to you too.
