Few more images taken from the meeting with B&B, (Barbara&Benno, not Bed&Breakfast :)
As you know, when you meet with Barbara, you expect rain. Everywhere she goes, even to the driest place on earth like in Goblin Valley, she has to carry an umbrella, because it will rain there. No kidding!
Regardless, of the rain, Zurich still maintain its charm in a moody way. and people there just embraces it as a way of life, wearing rubber boots and carrying umbrella like a purse. What a wonderful time we had, just walking around, taking pictures, talking about anything, and time just goes by like that and it time for dinner, we met with Benno at the restaurant, what a wonderful conversation about anything and how we do things differently in the U.S. and Switzerland/European countries, etc. Even baby Tyler was laughing along with our conversation. He was enjoying the dinner, eating his peas and vegetables, and enjoying the company as well. Next thing you know we had no time for desert and have to say goodbye in the rain.
Thanks to the very special model.
Thanks B&B for the wonderful time and dinner too. Still more pictures of the meeting in the future.
Nice to have barabara in full b&w with just the umbrella colored. It works great.
Love the message on the umbrella (from the ci : "OK?", not sure about question mark but I understand it this way.
Next time, stop in jura it is really close to switzerland :)
guillaumejm wrote in 2017/09/12 21:14:53: Yes it works also :)W.Lim wrote in 2017/09/12 04:50:18: Hi JM,
Love the part "carrying an umbrella like a purse", okay maybe the English folks are a bit better but we come second ... LOL ... You really have a pp talent, Way, the b/w with the red umbrella looks very good and cool and also how you kept the brand (on my rucksack) in red "Fjällräven". The okay umbrellas are a big thing here, the kiosks sell them, whenever you lose one in the train you can buy a new one, they come in all colors.
Thank you very much for the three images, they bring back wonderful memories. Next time we visit JMarc in the Jura, lovely area, I can only recommend it.
Running out of time, lots to do at work, last packing ... and fly on Thursday. Will do another upload, or two.
I'm not always a fan of selective colour, but this works really well...maybe it's to do with the fact the colour is red and we don't see little bits of it all over to be distracting. Excellent little series with Barbara. I can tell you guys all had fun.
I'm not a big fan of the selective colour either. Only few occasions that it work. in this case, I try all black and white, the landscape look good, because it was a rainy/Cloudy day, but the umbrella also just blend in with the rest in gray. and it was the red umbrella that make the composition work, so why not make it the only color in the gray day. I think it work well here too.
...you're right, I don't like it when it's a little bit of colors here and there throughout the image. It is very distracting. I mentioned that to someone once in TE and he unfriend me. Haha.
I like the selective colour in the red umbrella, especially as the umbrella is linked to your humoristic note. An additional nice detail is the label of the classical "Fjällräven" backpack in colour too. Thanks for the other photos too. Nice to see Barbara, Tyler and Rene in them.
I can imagine how marvelous was the meeting. I saw the series published by barbara.
I liked this view. the detail of the red umbrella is perfect here and the greyish mood of the town and the texture of the sky were perfect in this compo.
