This is the Empowerment Sculpture designed by artist Stephen Broadbent. The sculpture spans the River Witham in Lincoln's City Square, outside the Waterside shopping centre. The design is intended to echo the shape of turbine blades, in recognition of Lincoln's industrial heritage. It was completed in 2002, although meant to commemorate the Millennium.
You can see the sculpture clearly on the satellite map. The CI shows the whole sculpture in context, taken from the bridge.
I think the colour palette is limited enough to qualify for the theme.
I love what you did with the sculpture. Powerful. Very well spotted and executed. I guess you did not have too much time with it before vapour trail dissipated.
Good work. I bet you had very exciting moment.
All the best for the rest of the weekend.
Very creative framing in the main to keep the colors to minimum. It also allows the viewer to better appreciate the details of the sculpture; those blades look a lot like people. That jet trail connecting the the two 'persons' almost echos electrons jumping a gap. The Ci is also worthy of a main post, it has a great reflection!
And every one of the 900 posts here on PF have been exceptional. You have been a real heroine to me with all the great images, critiques, advice and photo shoots. For every image you have posted, you have written 11 critiques. No wonder you're tired. I'm glad you have given yourself permission to be free.
With sincere gratitude, Pat
Excellent shots, both of them. But the main is definitely more compelling compositionally and the colors fit the ToM better with mostly blue and gray. I like how the clouds flow in the same diagonal direct as the sculpture. The CI give the impression of the whole area and different POV. and 100 more to go for a 1K posts....Congratulations and thank for all wonderful photos and stories you shared with us.
Congratulations on your 900th! 👏👏👏 I like your angle on this interesting sculpture. Now, since black/white/grey do not count as colors, you have a monochrome photo, well done!
This theme has encouraged members to many interesting interpretations. This is as well. This is a fine detail of the sculpture. The metal structure stands out from the blue sky nicely and the white trail is a nice addition too. Thanks for the attractive CI too.
Congratulations for your 900th post! 😎
I remember this sculpture, I have an image of it and its structure at distance. I had not enough time to cross the whole UK and see everything, then I couldn't spent few minutes going out of my way to the cathedral (ever the list number one at first!!) hunting this sculpture. haha.
very nice to see it in closer details. nice framing and pov.
