Dawn at the Tomarapi village (4.200m), located in the Sajama National Park. View of the Church of Tomarapi in the foreground and the highest peak in Bolvia in the background. The commanding snow covered and extinct stratovolcano Nevado Sajama (6.542m).
Wow Peter........ Beautiful! You hit it at the right time and the clouds assisted by opening for the volcano. The only thing that could make this better is hearing the church bells as you captured the image. I don;t do favs that often but this one.......
Fantastic travel docu image. It is always impressive to see a volcano and cloud banks ... but I think the church in your foreground with its worn-out wall protecting the parish makes the difference. It all looks so poor and you kind of "see" that with every breath folks struggle with the altitude, the light that blinds them, the little vegetation that makes it hard to grow something decent to fill their plates. It is again the combo that makes this image stand out.
There is a remarkable difference in sharpness between the main and the Lv. I don't often see such improvement in sharpness between the two images; I suspect it is because of your drive for perfection. I also appreciate your tip to Didier about a 30 second exposure. Thanks for a wonderful trip
The image take my breather away, I guess when I think of Bolivia, that alone take my breath away. At this point I'm not sure I can do this altitude anymore, I've been to Peru, Tibet, Nepal...and each time I remember it was difficult and that I wouldn't want to do it again....but then I probably do it again :) for this kind of experience and special moment like you captured. This is awesome and very special for sure that I bet you'll remember for the rest of your life.
Beautiful colours, a perfect composition and gorgeous light. The long exposure has softened the clouds pleasantly. Good that you selected mood as one category, because I think the mood is what makes this photo.
An over-used word, but just WOW! That mountain is certainly bearing down on the church. I was looking for the focal length to see if there was some distance compression, but at 75mm probably not much. Stunning!
