An other one from the archives. The original is on a Kodak disk made in 1996. I lost the EXIF-data unfortunately.
Forserannes locks is a flight of 8 staircase locks on the Canal du Midi. Boats are raised 21,5 m over a distance of 300 m.
They are oval formed. Going up is rather spectacular, passing 2 locks each time. At the time I used a Minolta reflex camera.
Uhh this looks like some BIG adventure. It actually would scare me pretty much I think wondering if the water stops where it should stop all squeezed in the channel. But I am sure folks who have done it know what to do. Definitely great fun to travel on the Midi channel - I am sure. I just biked beside it - so far. I like these photo scans, they contain this certain aura "we love to think about".
John, this is an interesting reportage photo - from a point of view I never have had. A good combination of picture and note - and a special thank you for the stunning satellite view!
The backlight causes a great effect here.
