When president Dilma was impeached his vice took control of government, according the law, but most people wanted to elect a new name and became frustrated. At same time Brazil was living the worst economic depression in its history.
Brazil is very dependent of work of truckers and when they decided to stop the whole country in a strike they got it and many other people, like farmers, helped them. It was the hardest strike I saw in my life; my region and its towns became isolated and without fuel and some special foods during days, thousands of hens died because famine in the farms.
I was taking my mother to the doctor in another town and when I was coming back I found these farmers closing the highway to give support to the national strike. Those bananas are in the photo because this area is a big producer of the fruit.
This was a photo with bad quality, took with my old cellphone.
Sometimes it is good to stand up and make people aware about things, other times it is contra-productive as well. Losing so many animals is really crazy too. It's a good docu type image which also reminds me that we should take the camera with us as much as possible. Good one for the TOM with a political message.
Bom dia Jorge
It may not be the highest quality, but you have captured the feeling of the scene very well. I do think feeling is more important than perfection. Of course, some manage to do both. I love it!
While I long for the days of the 60's protests participation, we never quite reached this level! (Of course it help that the threat of being killed in Vietnam was a big motivator and we've been way too comfortable since then.....and way too focused on the issues that we have been carefully targeted to care about....of course, there are two sides so we've become two separate camps that focus on relatively trivial issues like guns and ignore health care, food safety, education and our relationship with the world.
Our big strike breaker was 'dear old 'Ronnie Reagan who took out the air traffic controllers union. The unions power has continued to decrease since then. I wonder who was pulling his strings since it has become obvious that he well deeply affected by Alzheimers by the time his term ended. Still I guess I prefer puppet masters to seemingly uncontrollable, vindictive maniacs.
Sorry about the rave, I try to avoid thinking about politics these days.
