My photo shows one of the five gateways of Frankfurt am Main central station – a huge terminus. I think this photo goes with our theme of May „Doors and windows“ because it shows nothing else than a gigantic door. You can see the whole building here. Each day this station is frequented by about 460.000 passengers. Its construction began in 1883 and it was opened in 1888. In 1924 two halls were added on each side of the main hall, increasing the number of platforms to 24.
It is so big, sometimes we don't think of it as a door anymore, but it is. A door for many trains to go through, or even a pretty big air plane can go throught :) Excellent light and contrast and I like the silhouette of the architectural patterns and the strong contrast of the interior and exterior.
The ci is also really good and worthy of its own post. it is less busy, but features more of the ceiling details and the lovely skylight.
You have framed this unique door well with the back-light allowing the busy foreground to fade into darkness, while it makes the identifying sign pop. I also like the soft color gradient of the light. I think the uniqueness of this image replaces the tidy half-timbered house in my vote. It's always a last minute decision. GLF, Patricia
I see a huge door and lots of windows in this photo. It is a good contribution to the theme. I like the framing and perspective of the photo. The framing and perspective impression are great in the CI as well.
