May is the best month to take nesting birds in picture from a hide well placed. One avocet was looking for some food while the other one was crouched on the eggs, but when the first fly back to the nest, they changed their position and made us see their future family.
What a wonderful and difficult to capture image with both parents and the eggs. Details, DOF, light management & color are all great. Still I'll be voting for the mating pair so I'll make this one a favorite. SAJ, Pat
Great image of the two and a perfect TOM entry. The eggs are well hidden with the same color as the sand. Only if you watch closely you can recognize them. Over all the years nature as "fine-tuned" these things learning from all the faux-pas.
PS. Yes this time of the year is perfect for such photos but it needs a lot of patience to make images. I have two bird families at the moment in my garden flying in and out from my bird nesting boxes. Two boxes are empty again, the little ones have flown out.
