This is a four-spotted chaser (Libellula quadrimaculata), a dragonfly of the family Libellulidae found widely throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. I took this photo at a little pond in the Castle Forest (Slottsskogen) in Gothenburg yesterday. The distance to the insect was about 2 meters.
Perfect. It is the kind of picture I would like to take one day. It might be that I have not enough patience or photo practice or I did not get lucky yet. Maybe one day but live dragonfly is too much challenge for me so far.
Congratulations Gunnar, I love it.
Here you present us a photographic direct hit - a photo really to be proud of. The technical quality is more than amazing - especially considering the distance to this insect. The rendering of the wings with all their glittering is stunning. this picture is appropriate for a field guide. Hats off!
Greetings from cool and grey Siegen!
