My photos were taken in early morning in the park and gardens around the three castles high above Saale river near the little town Dornburg (please see map view) - called Dornburg castles. They are an old karolingian castle, a royal residence and an imperial minister's castle. Their situation immediately on the edge of a shelly limestone rock is called „the balcony of Thuringia“.
That morning all the river valley was filled with fog and from time to time it spilled over the edge of the terrain into the park and wafted around the castle walls. It was a beautiful and a bit mysterious weather event …
In complementary photo you can see one of the castles. All castles you can see here
Fog is photographer's friend, when it gives the landscapes a mysterious mood like it does here. I like the composition and the bright blue sky, which shows that once the fog vanishes there will be a fine sunny autumn day.
Greetings from dark and wet Espoo,
I would be hard pressed to choose a favorite between your main with the grandeur of the trees climbing out of the mist and your Ci where the sun is about to burn through the fog allowing good detail of the castle and the still blooming roses. I thought that you would typically have snow by now. The link allows us to see the presentation of the castles and supports the „the balcony of Thuringia“ Still it doesn't have the artistic mood of your two images. GLF, P
