For well known places, it is often worthfull to turn around and to try other point of views, in the same spirit of what we did around Horseshoe bend.
What is making the shot is the pink hue, made twice by the reflection on the lake.
The composition is balanced with the 2 reliefs; even if the one on the left is small, it remains important to balance with the biggest one.
Is the vignetting a post processing choice or the consequence of the Big stopper filter, increasing the native vignetting of the lens ? I often notice a strong vignetting on my shots when using a big stopper filter.
sevy (2016/01/05 13:24:23): Yes, you are right, I retrieve the Mono lake shot, clean for vignetting.
I will review carefully my last shost using big stopper, perhaps my feeling is coming often I used it with wide angle with gradient of light on the sky from West to East.PB-Photography (2016/01/05 09:48:05): The strong vignetting was a choice and came also partially with the image given the dark ground of the lake. I never had problems with vignetting and the Big Stopper. You will get to see that once I post my Mono Lake from my "secret location". Remember? :-)
Stunning photo Peter! What else can I say? The colours are amazing and you have managed to pull some light out of the strange shaped mountain. (It's like a witch's hat! 😃) When we see sunrises (and sunsets) like this, water for reflected colour is an added bonus.
Fantastic. Thanks for the LV too!
SAGEN-haft :-) No wonder this is the land of fairy tales. SAGEN-haft not only what we can see if we want and sort of start to fantasize ... but also the image itself is a pearl with how you composed it. It has a strange rare beauty and you kind of return over and over again ... wondering if it is still there and we can find the same again. What an amazing color in the sky. SEHrrrr schoen, Peter.

As Frank says this is like from another world. An amazing view and photo! The pink sky and its reflection are stunning and cone shaped mountain in the middle is standing out from the pink wonderfully. A land of fairy tales indeed!
Another very surreal landscape image. It is something out of the scifi-fiction movie scene. The long exposure give it that smooth and dreamy quality. The warm tone is very beautiful, give us a false sense of warm. I'm pretty sure it is cold as ice there. Not much to say but just to show my appreciation and admiration.
What a huge contrast between the soft, hot colors with the pin-sharp detail and cool colors of the mountain. The image is so surreal it has a huge impact. It is almost disorienting. HLJ, Patricia
Probably the most photographed landscape in Iceland and this ranks for me as one of the best. I realise it's highly processed but because you've concentrated on boosting colours your treatment remains sympathetic to the scene (unlike some HDR of this place I've seen). The dark triangle in the water is priceless. A great job.
