Sunrise at the impressive location of Toroweap on the north rim of Colorado canyon.
Not visible on the shot, but it was snowing the day before and it was a bit tricky and chilling to access this far from everything place.
We were having great expectations for a dramatic sky, but in the morning almost every clouds had already disappeared.
Scary image, I can’t look too close … LOL … It’s a cool selfie, Yves. Oh boy, the clouds. You got to do the images when they are around. Whenever I wait, you bet the mood is differently the other day. There is no such thing as finding it twice.
sevy (2016/02/02 13:57:45): For sure, a place to be visited again and again. This shot is even not sharing the feeling of space, depth and wilderness of this place.
The only thing is that it is difficult to access.
Very dramatic image with the high steep cliff. Is that Peter risking life and limb to add a person to your image. We don't see many images from the North Rim so this is something different from the Grand Canyon.
PB-Photography (2016/02/02 17:01:48): No, it is Yves himself. I was standing besides his camera ;-)
I feel vertigo of just looking at this image! It is also looking like you were standing on a partially loose block of rock, which could fall down any time. Obviously it is only an optical illusion. Anyway an awesome and different kind of photo from this famous place.
Awesome image and very dramatic effect with the inclusion of the person. I know it look very close to the edge but within a safe distance, I hope. I would pee my pant if I had to stand there :)
Anyway, I was very annoyed the last time I was in Grand Canyon, about 1 month again, it has some snow and wind, this one guy has to climbed over the fence and go down to the rock that is sticking out to the canyon with a steep drop, something like this, so he can take a selfie. Every year, there are report of people die due to accidents, people falling down. The sad thing is in the selfie, it don't like anything like this.
Very impressive with fantastic detail even in the shadow.
Impressive canyon with those several layers on the right and the big wall on the left bathed in beautiful morning light. Their courage (or craziness, haha ..) besides giving the grandeur of scale gave us also the danger scale. Very wise choice of VERTICAL format and POV chosen also showing the river that runs down there with very good depth.
My favorite orientation - VERTICAL!!! :-)
Despite all the drama and the beauty of this place I was very disappointed with the light and weather condition. I was really hoping for real drama in the morning while we were driving through the snow storm to get there.
Oh well, maybe it is another place which deserves multiple visits at different times of the year to get the best out of it. The only problem is that it is really quite off the beaten path and the car takes a lot of hit on the road. It was this road which destroyed my 4 wheel traction. In the meantime it is repaired :-)
sevy (2016/02/03 10:30:06): Happy to see the car is recovering.
I agree this place is worth to be visited again and again up to get the right light and mood. But unfortunately very difficult to access.
I selected this shot because the silhouette is really adding the feeling of height.
What a view! The North Rim, did you camp at the first come, first serve campground some 20 miles from nowhere on that gravely road where one can walk for miles and never see anyone? Nice Composition...
amazing work. the personage is part of its success, the light is perfect , the inclusion of that magical cloud landing and the colorado running are other fabulous aspects. congratulations, it is a piece of high art.
