No, i'm not crazy, I just remembered one quote of a famous movie while visiting this abandoned palace in Comenda (Setúbal), last sunday.
This is quite a famous palace which was property of Queen D.Maria II, where J.F. Kennedy's wife stayed for a while after his husband was shot.
Some figures about this place, a 640 ha property, 26 rooms, 3 balconies facing Sado River and Tróia Peninsula. It's actualy for sale for a whooping 35 million euros at its actual state, if in good shape I can't imagine a rate for it but something around 100 million euros...
Yupp, I can see it, kind of spooky :-) Jokes aside, the blur in the foreground is THE perfect story telling element and we can kind of sense this aura of a long forgotten place hearing the dead knocking on the door or maybe hearing footsteps from the etage above. Sometimes this happens in old houses ... LOL ... Not sure how you reached this blur, did you move the camera a little? Some houses have this "thing", I can see why you loved to make images here. Pretty expensive but it does have some rooms to "show off". Hope all is fine in your corner of the world ...
Very mysterious and not surprising that it makes you think of ghosts.
For aesthetic reasons my taste usually dislikes blurred foregrounds, but in this case it works perfectly for the story you wish to depict. You want to reach the light on the right; the clear sharp part where you will be safe. However you have to travel through the blurred and murky part to get there and that is where danger lurks.
Be afraid....be VERY afraid! 😱
The atmosphere is fantastic, strange, scary enhanced by the B&W mood which increases the dramatic aspect. I don't know how you managed to have at the same time a sharp area and a blurred one (post processing in my mind or double shots mixed). waiting for your answer
Freaky place and even more so the price! WHAT??? 35 million Euros? Who are insane enough to buy it and than invest some additional million into it to bring it up to where such building deserves to be? Maybe some philanthropic group that is looking for some attractive building for a new museum?
The atmosphere is well captured and I believe that I can see some dead people in your image too!
The B&W is a good choice to provide the image a timeless element.
35 million is after a price drop, the first one was 50 million. It's a bit expensive but it's a property with 600 ha, more than 20 rooms and a breathraking view almost in 360º, and a private beach.
But you're right 35 million would be just the beginning because it's in such bad shape that maybe another 35 million would be needed to get it to the original look.I think the owners idea is to sell to some Hotel Group, maybe they have this amount of money to spend and make the needed rehab.
I will be posting some more photos of it, and you will see what kind of gen we are speaking about...
