One of the must interesting Church I visited, the one of Saint Joseph in Le Havre.
The town was almost destroyed by bombing at the end of WWII and quickly rebuilt using concrete right after.
This Church is a modern design all in concrete. Outside it is all grey and Brown, having the shape of a lighthouse, but Inside it is blooming colors.
Really a place to be visited being in Normandy.
Due to the symetry of the architecture and the repeated stained windows, it is for me an example of order. I propose this shot for ToM.
Here you show us an incredible and inventive architecture. At the first glance one really is confused but when looking a bit longer one is able to comprehend this overwhelming church interior. The contrast between the "cold" concrete and the partly warm light and the colours in this upward view is stunning. A fascinating building and photo as well!
Greetings from grey and rainy Westphalia! Have a nice Advent Sunday!
There is order everywhere in this image. Even the pieces of stained glass making up the windows are in an ordered pattern. I love the upward perspective too. Straightening the vertical would not have been appropriate here.
Impressive and beautiful this building. Full f details, shapes and colors to enjoy. Excellente this low POV to show us the beauty of symetry and depth or high(?).
sevy (2016/12/12 07:45:03): I saw a TV documentary yesterday on this church. So I learnt it is 84m tall. It is true that without any element of scale, it is not possible to guess the size of the subject.
Definitely an interesting ceiling with many elements to "wonder about". The colorful deco works extremly well with the plain approach of grey concrete. Interesting to study all the different layers and yet it has definitely order, kind of one leads to the other in an organized manner. Great result, all razor sharp to the end, the stand point is excellent.
I agree with you, the geometric shapes in the architecture suggest a high degree of order. Not only that, the colorful stained glass panes introduce brilliant light and beauty. A valuable addition to the ToM.
