Well some of you will laugh that Canada just celebrated its150th birthday as a modern independent nation especially if you are from Europe but Canadians are really getting into this every July 1st. I went to the Mission Raceway to watch some drag racing after which came some amazing fireworks. We were able to get almost underneath where to fireworks were set off. We still have a long way to go when it comes to reconciliation with the indigenous peoples who were here for at least 7,000 to 10,000 years. The politicians always embrace the idea but only at election time. Some of the native people live in terrible conditions especially if they are far away from larger urban areas.
A fantastic work! Photographing fire works always again is a real challange and here you managed to show its spectacular appearance wonderfully. Especially the dynamics of the explosion is rendered here in a great way. A photo to be proud of ...
By the way, one of my sons just has been in Schefferville/Québec (and its surroundings) - and he was appalled about the living conditions of many Naskapi people there.
Greetings from summerly Germany1
An happy birthday. Canada is a very interesting country. I'm not a specialist of it but can learn from some travel there and from my son living in Montreal.
Much more open minded than many other countries. You were talking about natives. Of course it always can be improved. but their situation is, I guess, far better than in US to compare with similar areas. And in europe we have no lessons to give to others in that matter.
But the past is the past and there is nothing we can do to change it. Only to think to future to make it the best as we can.
A great fireworks picture to celebrate the event.
You're still young boys over there :-) Hm, don't feel gulty about the tribal folks, we all have stuff that we rather do not want to mention. The important thing is that people talk about it and do not deny what has gone wrong in the past, also tribal folks have to come out from their lethargy and start to talk to us. When ever I am in these reservations there is a fairly big barrier, not sure why, I think I do look friendly :-) Happy Canada Day, I hope you had a great celebration.
This is a lovely fireworks photo, well done! You know the joke that goes as, "Did you know Canada has 4th of July, too?" And if the other person shows surprise, the first person adds, "And a 3rd of July and a 2nd, etc." Well now, I know for sure that Canada has 1st of July!
We are planning to be in your lovely country for our family vacation this year.
great flower burst effect captured here Phil, not an easy job I know from experience with all the turmoil and tribulations in countries at the moment, I think as a Canadian I would feel proud of my country, they don't seem to be doing too bad
What's so funny about 150 yrs. For the last 300 years both countries have made great strides from exploration, wars, expansion, and then protecting the old world in the first half of the 20th century. We both have something to crow about. I like the fireworks photo, I am never been able to get a shot like this, but then again I have not tried since I went to digital. Well done. I do like the star bursts throughout the image.
