Yellow. I LOVE yellow.
I think this theme was chosen for the month of October because the leaves are turning yellow and coloring the autumn landscape. But yellow is also a color that reminds me of spring.
Here in the Allgäu, one of my favorite times of year is the Dandelion bloom in late April. Whereas in many places (like Grosse Pointe, Michigan) Dandelions are considered weeds, here in the Allgäu, we are absolutely in love with this beautiful flower. In the spring, the cows enjoy finally being out of the barn and on the fields again, and they treasure this tasty treat. We humans use the leaves for salad and teas. But most of all, it's a feast for the eyes. The whole area is covered in a yellow blanket, as far as the eye can see.
I have hundreds of Dandelion images because I always drive around taking photos during this time. I had a hard time choosing which photo to post.
This image was taken very close to home. I actually drive by this POV almost every day. Maybe I should take some photos during other seasons for comparison. :)
A short note: my husband I are leaving on vacation soon, so I won't be too active in the next two weeks. I'll be back soon and will hopefully have a lot of new images to share.
Yes, there is clearly a different attitude toward dandelions in Europe, and your composition shows this attitude well. Since I love flower fields, I look closely at well-done compos to improve my own skills. Your framing has quite a unique angle. Shooting across the hill allows the FG to show some detail in the flowers while also creating a window that shows the farm and the Alps. This adds significant depth to your work. Have fun on your trip! HLJ, Pat
Yellow also is my favourite colour ... ;-)
You present us a really beautiful contribution to our theme of October. A landscape which rests in itself, which emanates calm and peace - and the yellow blanket makes it even more attractive. Also the contrast between the yellow meadows and the blue sky is gorgeous.
Greetings from by and by more autmnal Westphalia! Have a good holiday!
Beautiful, I also have some picture of the country side in Switzerland that is full of these dandeliion all over the field, it make a spectacular view with cheerful colors. This is perfect in composition with the tree on the side and the village in the background.
Who would not like Dendelions in such a yellow blanket. Dandelions are a feast for the eyes like this. However, I am known as a Dandelion hater in our garden and common yard, where they are not a feast for the eyes, but rather weeds. 😉 A beautiful photo with lovely colour contrasts, excellent depth and clarity. A good entry for the ToM.
