As April turned to May, my husband and I finally had the good fortune to visit our friend Korki and his beautiful family in Istanbul. It was my first time in this beautiful, bustling, historical city. And I fell in love. The atmosphere is amazing. The diversity is inspiring. The shopping (if you don't have an anti-shopping husband with you, oops!) is endless. I literally have hundreds of photos of this amazing city, but here's a small series to start out with.
This was taken on our last evening while we were on a boat trip on the Bosporus. It was a glorious evening, as you can see in the series.
Istanbul, I'll be back! Watch out, Korki & Co. :)
I have read and heard that the Bosporus is beautiful and your images prove that. I like the last one in the series with the mosque tucked up under the bridge, the afternoon/evening light is perfect. The main image is a very nice leading for sure.
Well done. Looking forward to seeing St Sofia and some of the other grand mosques as well ad the main market.
Sistercosmo (2019/05/21 21:58:32): Thanks for stopping by, John. Those highlights you mention will be coming soon.... :)
Wonderful series, I see that you really had a great time there and a it seem a beautiful city, we had planned to be here many times, but somehow it didn't work out. Looking at these image I wish I could have been already, but again, it will always be there and I will get there. I only hope that it didn't get too popular. Sometimes it ruins the way you have imagine it to be. Love all the image in the series, the first one with classic sunset sky and the iconic bridge the last with the close up of the mosque by the water and the bridge....Looking forward to see more.
Your pictures reminds me my stay with my wife in this city we discovered too in July 1998 during the final of the football worldcup that France won! It's good to take the ferry to see the european and asian cityscapes, linked by this huge motorway bridge. The city is also a good entrance to the asian world.
Haha, the anti-shopping husband :-) Sounds familiar to me. I like the city too although my last visit dates back to the "good old times" ... LOL ... it has really been a while. Time for a refresher no doubt. They're all very good images in your series. Maybe I like no. 4 best with the mosque directly by the water and yet not too close zoomed in. Always a bird "in the way" positvely and negatively, sometimes it looks like a dirt spot (so in my Dublin images) and other times they make the image more active.
It looks like you really had a great trip! You clearly chose the best image for the main, then I really like the last image. I'm guessing this is Hagia Sofia although I didn't realize that it was right on the water. The great framing and the low light make the image really special. Glad you had such a good time. HLJ, P
perfect the touch of blues and the touch of golden side by side in the mood of this compo with the elegant lines of the bridge structure in evidence. excellent image. I want to visit this town someday, but the list of places is so big. haha.
