Trona Pinnacles National Natural Landmark near Ridgecrest, California.
The pinnacles are tufa spires that formed under Searless Lake when it was more of an inland sea rather than a lake. I captured this while doing a walk about as the light was fading and beginning to fall behind the Sierra Nevada Mountains. I noticed the interesting sky conditions of sirrus clouds and thought this might make a B&W image. Coupled with the long shadows and softening light I knew this would work. B&W conversion was done using DxO's NIK Filters.
I am loving my new D750 so can imagine how happy you are with its new big brother :)
Lovely work John, a delight for the eye.
The b/w is conversation is excellent here, bringing out the details and textures in the sky. I was just about to upload an image I took last week in London with more or less the same conversion tones, maybe I still will, they could look good together.
