I think I saw this butterfly for the first time in my life and I was lucky to capture it in two photos. It is native to nearly all continents – except Antarctica and South America. Here in Europe these butterflies migrate from the Mediterranean to all Europe in May and June. It is proven that some species even migrated from Iceland to Sahara desert and even further south. Incredible ...
This „Vanessa cardui“ (in German: Distelfalter) - also called „painted lady“ - was a rather restless and shy photo model and it took me a lot of patience and about 20 photos to get the two here shown pictures. The animal obviously liked the Zinnia flowers in my garden
I visited many butterfly farm, but was never successful with getting a good shot. They move to much and too fast for me and I don't have the patience to wait or chase after a good one, especially now with 2 kids :) to watch out for.
Anyway, these are very good shots. I love them both. Excellent details on the patterns and colors.
