You really have been at the right time at the right place. What a wonderful mysterious and fascinating atmosphere! I like espcially the rendering of the pale purple colour of the heather plants and the change in colours in the sky.
A map view would be interesting here.
Greetings from very wet Westphalia!

The place is situated east of the Dutch town of Roermond in a national park called "De Meinweg".
Another beautiful shot from this place with purple heathers. It has a wonderful hazy morning atmosphere, fog still lingering over the ground, a hint of purple on the foreground and am even stronger orange stripe on the sky than in your first photo of this place. I still like the firdt one with 2 trees more, maybe because of its composition.
