After dinner at the lodge, we were on our way back to our camp site. I thought we stop and experiment with some night shot of the most famous geyser of Yellowstone, Old Faithful. It was much darker in reality, I didn't think the photo will turn out, but it is pretty good surprisingly. The light are from the lodge and or the general store behind.
I never have seen this natural wonder in this way. The contrast of the illuminated "water column" to the dark blue sky is stunning - and the stars here are the "cherry on the cake". Truly no everyday photo! I like it very much.
Greetings from still nearly summerly Germany!
What an adventure to see this in the night. I think the airplane makes the image special. It is such different worlds. While the guys up there drink wine to their dinner and watch a movie, our earth not only turns but also sends up smoke signs. Great night photography, the light that comes from the Lodge illuminates the geyser perfectly and yet not adding too much light.
I don't know how you have it but once I am dining in a fancy lodge it is not easy to return to the campsite all in the dark and cold and wet - hehe.
BabaCam (2019/11/03 09:17:56): I love camping, a cheap motel is no alternative but sometimes in the night when you do primitive style camping, I find it here and there a bit challenging walking to your tent after you had gotten in "contact" with the urban life style. Yet, once you're in your sleeping bag all is good.W.Lim (2019/10/30 22:43:25): It's fun actually, you can hear the elks mating call and the sounds of insects and animal. I prefer that over sleeping in some cheap motel room. The high end hotel maybe a different story :)
