This is the townhall of Thimister-Clermont in eastern Belgium (please see map view) - in the province of Liège. Clermont is a member of „The Most Beautiful Villages of Wallonia“. The townhall is situated on the „Place de la Halle“ with different styles of architecture of the last few centuries. In different forms, the most representative elements are bricks with whitened linestone outlining the doors and windows, floors and angles. The roofs are lined with their decorative slates. One of the attractions of the village is the town hall rebuilt in the late 19th century. Inspired by historic architectural styles, it is still regarded as a new element, namely the so called pepperpot tower.
On the upper floor - behind the big door - there's the registry office and the wedding hall. As you can see one of the main streets of the little town runs through the ground floor of the building. This peculiarity caused a saying in eastern Belgium: “We got married above the street“ and everyone in the region knows that the civil marriage took place in Clermont …
I add a complementary photo showing the town hall from another angle.
An interesting contribution with two nice shots of this beautiful town hall. In addition to your photos also the Google Street view shows pleasant views from Liege around this place.
Have a nice weekend!
