Straddling the Equator these islands don't seem to have a Winter or Summer; more of the same, most of the year. So it's an excuse to post some random wildlife shots one can see just by walking out of the three villages, one per main island. Our visit is basically a DIY land-based one.
That's an unexpected and fancy contribution to our theme of December. I like it. The posture of the beautiful bird somehow shows something like "freezing" ...
I like how it stands out against the background. A fascinating photo!
Greetings from sunny but cool Westphalia!
so you are now in Ecuador, the only South American country I have visited. the details and cours of the flamingo are great I am not sure of the composition though. Why not crop it down even further seeing as you don't have its legs, so the flamingo fills the frame, he looks it the right direction, I think it could work and be much stronger for it.
Chris Holt (2019/12/08 02:01:43): Hi Elaine,
Cath agrees with you, so that's two against one :).
In the original image I had the leg disappearing into water and a reflection which I didn't like. The reason I cropped it this way was I thought a short straight line offset the curves of the body plumage and especially the neck.
All the best,
