Winter here in Germany once again seems to fail. Outside there's a totally grey day with dense drizzle, fog and temperature is +5°C.
I found this photo in my archives. This is winter as it should be : sunshine, a blue sky, snow, hoarfrost and all at -10°C. A dream ... especially for these sledge riders and hikers.
The picture was taken here in my region nearly exactly 9 years ago in an altitue of about 600 meters a.s.l. in the low mountain range Rothaargebirge (please see map view). After several days of fog and frost this day sun came out and it illuminated a real winter wonderland. The building in background is a forester's house.
I think it was also a few years ago here since we saw such a prefect winter postcard. We also are enduring grey skies and wet and temperatures around the 5 degrees.
Images like this just make you want to grab the camera and go outside.
I'll take my snow wherever I can get it! What a delightful theme. Hoarfrost turns bare trees into diamond covered delights! I did wake up to snow this morning and there is actually still snow on the many of the trees, well past noon. GLF, Pat
Like you also I have to dig to my archives, if I want to show a real winter photo with snow. Your photo shows winter wonderland in a fine way. Lots of snow, hoar frost in the trees and a group of people enjoying the winter. BTW, we had today 12 mm rain and temperature is still +5 °C in the evening.
