The guide we have in the Southern part of Ethiopia is really good. He is from the local area in the small town call Jinga. He knows a few people from different villages. He arranged for us to stay overnight at this little village, which allow us to see how they live and interact with the people.
Walking around the village after sunset, we saw many local folks just doing their daily thing, the girl has just coming out of her house and agreed to have her photo taken. Lots of story to tell from this experience I just don't have the time the ability to put it in a nice writing. So I hope the photo give you enough impression and I love her attitude, a bit diva and she certainly aware she is and feels beautiful and proud of the attention from us. Color version in CI.
It was a bit dark at the time and I was considering using a flash, but I didn't want to bother it might have taken to long and it might make her feel uncomfortable. I like how it turn out, a bit more natural and not brighten with a flash.
I have few of these photos, but I was never sure if I can post it here.
She has all the reason to feel beautiful, she is such a pretty young woman. The jewellery looks very very nice on her lovely dark skin. I agree that a flash light would have made it too "perfect" in the sense that it would probably be looking like a model shooting. I find it came out great in this way, completely natural looking. Beautiful b/w tone.
I am sure your trip to Ethiopia would fill books full of "exotic" experiences.
So so glad that you show this image on PF. This is us - human beings - how we are born.
This image would look great in a bigger version hanging on a wall.
there is still part of me feeling not comfortable about posting semi nudity image...even though personally I think it is also very natural, as these people do. Also it is changing a lot, some of them start to wear clothes especially when they see stranger like us tourist approaching, they leave or they cover themselves. These village are disappearing, they are becoming more and more city like as the build roads into the tribal areas....That's why we want to go see them before they disappear.
She is beaiutifull and have a noble attitude. The b&w suits very well to thye photo. The focus on the girls and its jewelry
No problem for me to have such pictures here. It is beauty in its simplicity only.
W.Lim (2020/02/08 06:29:11): thank you JMarc. Appreciated your comments always.
She is absolutely beautiful and your rendering in b/w first class. Be pleased that you had the opportunity to visit these villages several years ago, by what I hear from friends travelling in the Omo valley now is a but if a circus, the villagers dressing up in the finery for the tourists and having to pay $ís for every photo.
She is beautiful and both the B&W and the color images are wonderful! In the main, the eyes are a magical focal point while the color image is much warmer with the lovely skin tones the bright jewelry. It also made me notice the details of the village. I think the B&W is a true artistic vision while the CI is more real with perfect DOF and natural colors. Thank you for sharing these two beautiful images. HLJx4, Patricia
